Hossein Estiri, Ph.D.

Hossein Estiri, PhD, is a computational demographer, data scientist, and clinical research informaticist. His official training in urban design has laid the theoretical foundations of his work in a socio-ecological approach, giving him an opportunity to explore applications of the principles of “context” in his research. Dr. Estiri applies a variety of data science methodologies, including geo-spatial and statistical learning techniques, to developing computational models that explain complex ecological phenomena and health outcomes. Dr. Estiri’s work in clinical research informatics has focused on mining ethical HIPPA compliant Electronic Health Record (EHR) data for secondary use and architecting high-performance visual data analytic systems for transforming EHR data into intelligence for decision making in healthcare and population health management.
